A fall beer festival featuring the best seasonal brews from local, regional, and international breweries in neighborhoods and cities in the wider area.
Of course, Oktoberfest and the fall 2021 beer festival can look a little different. Oktoberfest, the annual festival in Munich, lasts for two weeks and ends on the first Sunday in October.
The following year competitions were associated with state agricultural fairs, and food and drink stalls were introduced in 1818. By the late 20th century, the huts had become large beer halls made of plywood with balconies and internal platforms.
Each of Munich's brewers built one of the temporary structures with a capacity of about 6,000 seats. The mayor of Munich knocked on the first barrel at the festival's opening. The total beer consumption during the Oktoberfest was more than 75,800 hectoliters.
Breweries are also represented in the parade which features beer carts and floats with people in traditional costumes. Other entertainment includes games, attractions, music, and dancing. Oktoberfest attracts more than six million people every year, including many tourists.
